FAMILY

Mary at age 4 with sister, Betty Mary was born December 24, 1952 in Athens, Texas (there was no doctor in their hometown of Eustace where their farm was located). She is seen here with her sister Betty, who has been a huge support to Mary in her campaign and has been a constant participant in the boys' activities over the years. Betty is a teacher's aid, helping kids with special needs during the school year, and making mission trips with her church during school breaks.

Christmas 1999 (Ted, age 12 and Mark, age 9) Mary joined the law firm of Thompson & Knight in 1972 and worked there as a word processor, legal secretary and then paralegal, as she attended college and her first year of law school. After graduating from SMU Law School in 1983, Mary joined a firm in Denver as an associate in the litigation section. She returned to join Jenkens & Gilchrist in 1986 and to marry Greg, who is a senior partner at Thompson & Knight. Their first son, Ted, was born July 18, 1987, and Mark was born November 23, 1990.

Christmas'07 (Ted, age 20 and Mark, age 17) Mark is a senior at Greenhill School and Ted is a junior at Vanderbilt University. Greg and Mary are members of the Becomers Class at First United Methodist Church in Downtown Dallas, where they have participated in various volunteer activities and have taken dance lessons (they still can't dance).
